From the outside one can only tell from the faint glow that the bar is open. As you pull in, the warmth of laughter and the smells of musk, beer, and food welcome you.
Located in the Totem Lake area of Kirkland, on NE 124th ST across from Taco Bell, I consider Liquid Lime to be a medium dive, as it has that worn in feeling to it and yet the amenities are in great condition. When you walk in you are greeted with plentiful seating and it is not unusual to see medium to large groups and regulars. There is a full bar, comfy-oversized chairs, karaoke bar, two pool tables, and nine dartboards.
The karaoke starts off rather slow, but the host is not afraid to get the entire bar grooving by opening with a few songs herself. Once others get a little liquid courage going the real fun begins, with tunes from Marvin Gaye to Gwen Stefani.
The age group, which frequents this amazing little bar, ranges from 21 to mid 40’s with the majority in being early twenty’s to early thirties. Everyone is friendly considering most are there for the same reasons: good wings and delicious beer.
Wednesday night’s special KING OF THE WINGS after 6:30pm consist of 5 chicken wings for $1 (pretty much outstanding for all you wing lovers on that there college budget), prices on pitchers start at about $10, mixed drinks about $6.25, which are strong, and I do mean strong (this is where the dive part kicks in). They also have a full menu with appetizers, salads, burgers etc.
Service is decent, with only two waitresses working the entire floor. The waitress we had had an incredible memory, incredibly personable, and quick to laugh. Because there are only two waitresses be prepared to wait for food/drink service to come around. I suggest if you are thirsty to order a first round from the bar to get things moving for your group.
Drew’s Grade: Liquid Lime gets a B in my opinion as they have room for improvement on the service side. Overall it is a great place to go have a few beers, eat some delicious yet greasy food, and most importantly have good times with your friends and fellow students. If you are in this part of Kirkland other bars that compare are: Danny’s Pub (dive) and Lucky 7 (medium dive). Until next week please drink and be merry (responsibly of course).
